Worldbuilding for the jungle was one of the most challenging tasks in Act III, simply because it covers such a large area, and in the original Diablo 2, it was very repetitive. It was up to myself and a small team of artists under my direction to try and not just recreate the jungle from Diablo 2, but also to find ways to improve it by making it more visually interesting and adding additional elements of storytelling. Besides directing my team in what tasks they were assigned, I was responsible for vetting all of the assets being created by our outsource studio, and then later making texture and model modifications as necessary to ensure quality and consistency. I was also responsible for creating and blending all the terrain textures in the jungle, whether made from scratch or heavily modified from an existing substance. Last but not least, I set-dressed a large chunk of jungle - adding overgrowth and decals to walls and structures, placing props and additional details to support the narrative, and working closely with Mark Hernandez to perfect the treeline so that it would match the original game while still presenting an illusion of depth and realism.
